How do I make text easier to read with High Contrast Mode on an Android phone?
Android devices come with low vision features called High Contrast Mode built into their operating system.
The high contrast text feature helps to make colours and fonts much easier to see. Android loves to use thin fonts and pastel colours within text, which can make recognising certain letters or even certain words really hard.
To turn on and adjust any of the display settings, you need to open the Settings app. The Settings app is usually found on the home screen or by flicking down on the top right status bar and searching for the Settings cogwheel. It’s almost always in the top right corner.
Use High Contrast Mode
This feature changes the text colour to either black or white, depending on the original text colour.
- Open your device's Settings app
- Tap Accessibility - Text and display
- Turn on High-contrast text.
