How can I get my Will written or updated for free?

There are a number of free Will writing services available including:

National Free Wills Network

You can have your Will written or updated for free by a local solicitor through the National Free Wills Network. This service is available throughout the UK. The charity will pass your name and address to the National Free Wills Network, who will send you a letter containing the details of participating solicitors in your area who can write or update your Will.

Accessibility - The letter and solicitor details from National Free Wills Network can also be provided in large print or audio. You should let the charity know when you contact them if you require an alternative format.

The Goodwill Partnership

The Goodwill Partnership offer a free home-based Will writing service over the phone, or face-to-face in England and Wales, and they also have a limited number of online video appointments. The Goodwill Partnership will call you to arrange an appointment at a time that suits you.

You can arrange an appointment directly with The Goodwill Partnership online, by calling 0844 669 6148 or texting GOODWILL2 to 60777 and one of their team will call you back.

The Goodwill Partnership professionals have also completed a Guide to Writing Wills which can be found on RNIB’s Legacies web page.

Accessibility - If you are blind or partially sighted, you can get a copy of your Will transcribed using RNIB’s confidential transcription service to aid you with witnessing your Will once it’s complete.


Bequeathed is an accessible and free online Will writing service. You can create an account on the Bequeathed website and make a start on your Will. Guidance and support are available to help you progress at your own pace.

Accessibility – The Bequeathed website is fully accessible and Bequeathed are working towards maintaining the WCAG 2.1 AA standard.
