How long do I have to wait to get my cataract operation?

The NHS constitution says that you should be seen by a consultant within 18 weeks of being referred to the hospital. This is a maximum waiting time and you may be seen earlier than this.

Current waiting times for cataract operations vary across the country. For more information on waiting times:

England see the NHS Choices waiting times webpage

Scotland see the NHS inform webpage

Wales see the NHS DIrect webpage

Northern Ireland see the NI Direct webpage
