What is DJVI and how can it help the development of a baby with a VI?
The Developmental Journal for babies and children with vision impairment (DJVI) is an early childhood intervention programme. It's designed to be used by practitioners in partnership with parents and forms part of the service offered by a Qualified Teacher of children and young people with Vision Impairment (QTVI). It provides a systematic framework that allows you to track developmental and vision progress from birth until they reach around three. The journal also provides a valuable record of a child's achievements and progress.
The effectiveness of the DJVI was the subject of a research project carried out by a team at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
