How can my child with a vision impairment get the most from a visit to the cinema?
The CEA Card
Is a national card scheme developed for UK cinemas by the UK Cinema Association (UKCA). The Card enables a disabled cinema guest to receive a complimentary ticket for someone to go with them when they visit a participating cinema.
Audio Description
Most cinema chains show a variety of films with audio description – AD at no extra cost. The normal film soundtrack is broadcast to cinema speakers in the usual way, whilst a recorded narrator explains what's happening on screen (in gaps in the dialogue) through personal headphones.
Further information can be found on the Your Local Cinema website.
