Am I entitled to Carer's Allowance?

You and the person you care for have to meet certain criteria to make a successful claim for Carer's Allowance. As the carer, you have to be 16 or over, not in full-time education, earn no more than £123 a week, and spend 35 hours or more looking after someone who receives certain benefits. You must also be habitually resident in the UK and satisfy the past presence test.

Before you make a claim for Carer's Allowance you should check that it will not have an impact on the person you are caring for's benefit entitlement.

More information on Carer's Allowance can be found on Gov.uk's carer's allowance web page.
