What can I use as confirmation of disability to qualify for concessionary rates?

The following are accepted by most places and organisations:

  • Letter awarded from the Department for Work and Pensions stating eligibility for disability benefits.
  • Blue badge or disabled bus pass
  • Local Authority proof of registration – some local authorities offer small credit card sized proof of registration cards, contact your Local Authority for more information

You could also consider one of the following:

  • Disabled Identification Card - a small credit card sized proof of disability which can be purchased from a company called DID for between £16.50 - £20 depending on application method (post or online) and length of card validity (one or two years). For more information see What is a Disabled Identification (DID) card?
  • Access Card - a small credit sized photo card that translates your disability / impairment into symbols which highlight the barriers you face and the reasonable adjustments you might need. This then informs people quickly and discreetly that you might need additional support. The card costs £15 for 3 years and you will need to provide proof of your disability in order to obtain one. For further information see What is the Access Card?

Please note the DID and Access cards are not issued by the government and may not be recognised by all organisations and venues, so do not guarantee access or any concessionary rates.
