How do I start and stop Windows Narrator?

Windows allows you to turn the Narrator screen reader on and off. This is particularly useful if other people are using the same computer and do not need this feature. To do this, select the Start button - Settings - Ease of Access - Narrator.

Alternatively, you can utilise keyboard shortcut keys to access the Ease of Access centre (Windows Key and U), tab once and arrow down six times to Narrator and press enter. Press the tab key to get into the main window.

The first option in this section is to toggle Narrator On and Off. You can do this by pressing the 'Enter' key.

Narrator can also be turned on and off from anywhere within Windows. To do this, you can use the keyboard shortcut Windows, Control and Enter to turn Narrator on and the same command to turn it off.
