How can I make a party, religious celebration or festival accessible?
All children and young people with vision impairment should be able to participate in any cultural and religious celebrations they want to join.
A range of information on making different cultural and religious events accessible can be found on our How to make celebrations accessible for all the family webpage.
Playing and socialising is important for the development of all children. For children with vision impairment, interacting with their peers gives them the opportunity to develop many vital social and communication skills.
RNIB's Education and Children Service has also created a Parties and Playdates guide, which suggests activities and adaptations for preparing to host a party for your own child or wanting advice on how to include a child with a vision impairment in a party or playdate. It also has information on activities outside the home such as cinema visits.
RNIB Specialist Advice Service Advisors can give further information on this topic
