How can I make my landline phone more accessible?

There are number of telephones available that have a range of built in features making them easy for blind and partially sighted people to use.

Features can include:

  • high contrast, big buttons that are easier to feel and see
  • large, easy to see displays that show the number that you're dialling
  • pre programmable buttons that enable you to store your favourite numbers
  • "talk back" the telephone verbally confirms back to you the buttons you are pressing.

You can try out different telephones by visiting your local resource centre. Find your nearest centre on the Sightline Directory by entering your postcode and the search words 'resource centre'.
