What is the Passenger Assistance app?

National Rail has launched an app to make it easier for disabled passengers to request assisted travel.
The app allows you to set up a profile stating your needs, then plan each leg of your journey and select whether you need travel assistance.

All the rail companies have signed up to the app, so users no longer need to contact each rail operator directly to arrange assistance – it’s all done automatically through the app. The user interface is very plain and easy to navigate, includes high contrast and works with VoiceOver software.

Passenger Assistance can help you get to the right platform, reserve and find your seat on the train for you, help with getting on and off the train, help with changing platforms for the next leg of your journey and assist with leaving the station via a particular exit and take you to onward public transport/taxi rank etc.

The Passenger Assistance app is available to download on the App Store and Google Play. More information can be found on the National Rail Passenger Assistance webpage.
