Who will carry out my PIP assessment?
PIP assessments are carried out on behalf of the DWP (or Department for Communities in Northern Ireland) by the Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS). HAAS conducts PIP, ESA, UC, IIDB and Veterans UK assessments, delivered regionally by providers such as Serco, Maximus, Capita and Ingeus.
DWP contracts different providers depending on where you live:
- Maximus – Nothern England and Scotland (there is no PIP assessment in Scotland as the benefit has been replaced but Maximus carry out the other benefit assessments such as the work capability assessment.
- Capita – Midlands, Wales and Northern Ireland
- Serco – South West and South Central England
- Ingeus – South East, London and East Anglia
Assessments may be conducted face to face, over the telephone or via video call. All assessments should now be recorded by default unless it is carried out by video call. You can opt out of the recording process.
